For your consideration: Stained glass sun-catcher depicting an antique scene of Cologne, Germany's harbor and index of churches. This unique piece of stained glass is 12" wide and 8.5" high x 1/4 deep and is probably one of the most beautiful pieces of stained glass that I have owned (I have quiet a collection). This is a painted or transfer piece on one solid piece of glass in a lead frame and I would estimate from the 1960's or 70's. Picture # 12 shows some "bubbles" or white marks under the surface. These cannot be seen under a light or with the sun behind and we only found them when placing on a dark background.
This could be air caught under a top sealer coat or the transfer. The colored scene is that of "Colonia Agrippina" (Cologne) pictured in the 17th or early 18th century. The title and the index at the bottom of the scene is written in Latin. There is a river (Rhine) and harbor scene of ships, warehouses in the foreground and the main theme of fifty churches and government buildings in the background. The churches and buildings are numbered and there is an index at the bottom identifying what building it is.
As aforementioned this index is written in Latin. This piece weighs nearly 1.5lbs and suggest a strong/solid hanging device/hook preferably away from small children.
